You’ve Heard Of Romantic Comedies, But What About AI-Generated RomComs?
In today’s installment of “We didn’t ask for this, but here we are”, TCL, a TV manufacturing company (because who else?) has whipped up the first-ever artificial intelligence-generated romantic comedy, creatively titled “Next Stop Paris”. The ‘Free Willy’ of AI contributions, if you will. Unfortunately, the trailer leaves much to be desired, resembling a fever dream concocted in Frankenstein’s lab instead of a heart-warming love story.
Plot Twist – The Key Points
- We got what we didn’t ask for – TCL announced the world’s first-ever AI-generated romantic comedy. Not quite the technological advancement we were all thirsting for.
- Creative geniuses abound: This AI monstrosity is named “Next Stop Paris”. Newsflash. AI may need to work a tad harder to make a dent in the movie title business.
- 60 seconds of mayhem: – The trailer posted on YouTube by the company isn’t quite “Love Actually”. More like “Interdimensional Squid Wars” meets “Cubist Nightmare”. Faces are distorted, landscapes garbled. It’s safe to say, Paris has never looked worse.
Review – So Bad, It’s Good?
The closing credits haven’t rolled yet, but it’s clear that TCL’s AI-generated romantic comedy, “Next Stop Paris”, might be the cinematic equivalent of reheated fish in the microwave – an earnest attempt, but ultimately a disastrous one. Yet, there’s some charm in the sheer audacity of it. As an exploration of what AI is (not) capable of, it’s pretty revealing. Let’s just say, human scriptwriters can breathe easy… at least for now.
Set the popcorn aside, though. This might be more of a popcorn-throwing-at-the-screen kind of event. AI, it seems, still has some way to go before it swoops the Oscars, or even the Razzies.

Prompt: In the style of Romanticism, the image portrays an AI robot pirate standing at the helm of a grand golden age pirate ship with the Eiffel tower seen faintly in the foggy backdrop. The robot is made of brass and copper with traditional pirate attire. In its metallic arm, it holds a single, delicate red rose. The seascape is painted with a palette of bright sunset colors, contrasting with the AI’s cool metallic complexion. Floating around are transparent holographic screens showing several scenic frames of Parisian cafes and painted lovers.
